When the coronavirus pandemic forced Shin to close her catering business, she had time to reimagine her path for the future. If Covid taught her anything, it is the importance of all of us working together to accomplish a common goal.

With that, Shin launched FOR US COOKIES in 2021 to help us all to take a step forward in caring for the environment, the animals, and our own health. Her amazingly delicious, vegan and gluten-free cookies are made with sustainably sourced, better ingredients and sent in compostable/recyclable packaging.

Shin Kim (김신정), a native of Seoul, South Korea, is the owner of Banchan Story LLC and the founder and Chief Cookie Officer of FOR US COOKIES.

Shin has produced Korean culinary events, featuring hands-on cooking and the sharing of stories behind Korean cuisine, since 2015. Her business has expanded into catering services, offering delectable bites with intricate designs and flavors of all types to clients such as Herman Miller, Dolce & Gabbana, and Watches of Switzerland. 

Shin holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and completed her culinary training at New York’s Institute of Culinary Education. She refined her craft at some of New York's finest Michelin-starred restaurants, including Jean Georges, Gilt, and Adour by Alain Ducasse, and premier catering establishments such as Abigail Kirsch. Shin also studied Buddhist temple cuisine at the Chunjinam Hermitage and at Balwoo Gongyang, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Seoul, Korea.
